General Comments


First impressions were that the property was well appointed and the rooms spacious. However I would not consider it as a luxury home in comparison to other homes we have stayed in and there was nothing mentioned in its description to inform us that it was part of a duplex. The owner did not visit us until the day we left in order to collect the remainder of the rent. We considered it very unbusiness like that the owner did not meet and greet us and show us were everything was together with instructions for the appliances
Advertised to sleep 6+ guests yet only enough seating for 5 . Green chair shown on web page giving description was not there for us.Unable to bring chairs in from outside as redwood flooring throughout . The owner had previously requested that we leave our shoes off when indoors so metal chairs would have ruined the floors.
There was no inventory. When questioned the owner said she knew exactly what she had in the house and would know if something went missing. Our reply of but what about our rights? fell on deaf ears.
My brother in law who also manages properties made a rough inventory for ourselves. As a possible safe guard which turned out to be very wise as the owner contacted us what she thought were mislaid items and we had to contact her re items we had accidentally left because as we had pointed out from the beginning she had no specific itemized knowledge of the contents because there was no inventory to refer to.
My relatives who live out there were constantly asking if they could kindly view the property on behalf of ourselves. We were travelling a long way and wanted to be sure that we had not made a mistake that may ruin our holiday. There was always an excuse or a broken appointment on the owners part so that they never did see the property. By this time it was too late to pull out and rebook with someone else .

It was very difficult to get hold of her and when we did we got nowhere. eg: on second day she promised that her and her husband would call and help the two men in our party to carry the paddle boat down to the jetty as it needed 4 people. We are still waiting! In the end father and son struggled to take it to the jetty as our valuable holiday time was being wasted.This was very annoying when from our balcony we watched her on a daily basis constantly using the jetty or talking to the neighbors.

The cooker didn't work properly ie: knob pointed wrong way so we played a guessing game each day at meal times. The fire alarm kept ringing constantly each time we cooked. Therefore it had to be disconnected continually. The owner thought it was funny!
Mosquito nets were missing in main bedroom so that one either suffocated or got bitten to death as did my poor sister.

Very difficult to use the advertised boat dock/jetty as the owners friends and family were constantly using it.

After an approximate 9 hour journey and still still feeling jet lagged during the first two days of our holiday we were unable to sleep because of road works right outside the bedrooms the owner had given us one days notice.

Shortly after this we were subjected to the Indignity of roof clearance whilst we were trying to relax. this should have been carried out prior to our arrival

The balcony and table had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and was covered in dust and leaves

Wished to rent motorised vessel as info pertaining to this was promised but was never forthcoming.
We vacated the property and left it in an exemplary condition. Much cleaner than when we arrived and we told the owner so.
Our holiday was spoilt due to periods were there was clearly an invasion of privacy together with a lack of care and consideration..

    After staying at the exact same house for a week after these people, I've come here to write a review and I'm really surprised by this account of any stay at Lakeview. The house was completely spotless when we arrived, it's a beautiful home. It's like these people and my family stayed at two different places.
