Good for building credit.
Terrible customer service.
High APR
I got this credit card as my first card to build credit when I was 18. I paid on time every month, and they gradually increased my credit limit. The website and customer service is horrible and you can barely understand the customer service reps. They lost a check once. I called a few days before it was due because it still hadn't posted and they said they never got the check. So I had to pay to have the check cancelled and pay it online before it was late. I started paying online after that incident, and then after a few months they started charging me $4.95 to pay it online. They just had to get extra money out of me somehow. I had this card for 2 years, built up my credit and got another card with a much lower APR. I called Aspire to see if they could lower my APR and I would stay with them. They wouldn't lower the rate even though I never made a late payment in the 2 years I was with them, so I told them to cancel the card. They asked if I was sure I wanted to cancel because of all the benefits that come with the card, which included having the visa logo on the card and the ability to make purchases with the card, but not pay for them until later (when the bill was due). I wouldn't call those benefits and I did cancel the card. I would not recommend becoming an Aspire Visa customer unless you have bad credit/no credit and need to help build it up. If you do that, don't stay with them very long because it's a horrible company!
