I saw an advert to view your credit rating free for 1 month with Equifax Credit Report www.equifax.co.uk. All you had to do was give your details and credit/debit card details and they sent you out a password through the post. The only bad point about this service was done for security reasons and that was posting the password which took around three working days. Once you received that you can log in and view all the information kept about you on your credit status.
You are told that it can be a few months behind as not all banks and lending companies are up to date with their reporting. But it does give you a good insight in to what banks are looking at when you apply for mortgages or loans and you can get anything which is not factual removed if it is needed.
The sort of thing that is kept on your file is your mortgage payments, loan payments, any store or credit card you may hold plus some companies that you pay regular payments to like for me my T- Mobile payments. For each account it will tell you how much you pay how regular your payments are, if you pay on time and if you have missed any payments in the last 5 years. It also shows how much debt you have outstanding so you can see you current balance on your mortgage for example which I really like and credit limits on store/credit cards.
I would recommend taking out this free offer but you should cancel it before month is out or you will be charged and fixed into a contract with them. To cancel is simple all you have to do is call their helpline number and it is done making this service invaluable to everyone with both good and bad credit ratings.
