Good Points

The Compaq Presario 2500 has pretty good functionality, good keyboard, no problems in 2+ years of heavy use as a desktop substitute.


Bad Points

Short battery life, esp. once the fans kick in. Maybe 1 hour with a fresh battery. In travelling I have to carry multiple spare batteries for long flights. Fans are also noisy - I once had a librarian come over to me to request I quieten my computer - she could hear it 30 feet away! On the other hand the fans putting out all that heat from the CPU are great for keeping hands warm, in a super air conditioned room (I have done so. Several times!)


General Comments

The fan and battery issues are strong disincentives.
