Patrol men are wonderful.
More expensive than competitors. Service has become very poor over past 18 months or so.
Broke down on the Motorway 5 miles from my local garage.
A private contractor working on behalf of the AA turned up after 2 hours. He informed me that he was told to take only as far as the nearest service station off the motorway; this was only 2 miles from the garage I use. I was told to wait there for another hour and a half where upon another independent contractor took me the remaining 2 miles, but not before snapping the towing eye on my car by trying to winch my automatic while car was still in Park.
To add insult to injury I was involved in an accident on same motorway a few months later, only to be told the AA do not recover vehicles from accident, but they would send an independent and I would have to pay £105 to be recovered.
So what was I paying £140 a year for then?
I have since joined Green Flag and for one third of the cost, I get a far superior service.
Ask motorway policeman if based upon their day to day experience, they would recommend the AA?
I bet 9/10 would say no.
The AA used to be very good; they are now trading on their past reputation and the good will of their excellent patrol men.
