Good Points

Two dvd's for your money. Total body workout. Adapt exercise to suit you. No lycra-clad gym bunnies.

Bad Points

Music... could be better. Annoying camera angles at times.

General Comments

Ok, so healthy eating combined with exercise... sounds like a plan. The gym just wasn't doing it for me. Walking is great - but sometimes boring, and the weather is just so unpredictable. After doing some research on 'Fitness Videos' I plumped for Davina, and I am glad I did.
She looks great after toning and losing the extra weight after giving birth.
Davina's box set was £15.95 (from Woolworths).
Power of 3 gives you 3 routines which work the legs and bum, upper body and abdominals. There is also a warm up and a cool down at the beginning and end of the whole routine (cool down was my favourite bit!). Fat burning intervals help keep your heart rate up. These last for a minute. A word of warning though. If you happen to have a weak pelvic floor (like moi), then invest in some tena lady... ha ha. There is quite a bit of star jumps and the like.
Davina's two personal trainers (a husband and wife team) take you through the exercises. Nice to see that the wife is 'normal' looking, although she does have a slightly demonic smile on her face most of the time. Davina does all the exercises during the DVD and injects a friendly, humourous edge to it all. There is the hard version, but one of the trainers usually demonstrates an easier alternative if you feel yourself flagging. The music is kind of OK, not the best, but I think you could mute the sound and play one of your own CDs once you have mastered all the moves. [this will also stop you from having to listen to the same banter - which although good - may get annoying after a while]. Some of the camera angles get annoying. They focus on Davina's face and you can't see how she is doing the exercise. This only happens a few times so it's quite a small gripe.
All you need is a small space in your living room, a couple of cans of beans (as weights.....or you could go posh and buy proper ones), and a kitchen chair (for tricep lunges - ouch!). A mat or towel would come in handy too if, like me, you have a laminate floor.
If you push yourself to your limit then you will definitely feel the 'burn'(and sweat....lots).
Next day I walked like John Wayne's little sister... not out of choice you understand. I am hopeful that I will be able to descend the stairs like a normal person in around 3 days.
If you are always promising yourself that you will get fit and slim down your bum and tum - then I advise you buy this DVD. One of the best on the market.. Just make sure the hubby and the kids are out of the way... or better still...make them join in!

Cheers for a fantastic, entertaining review, will definitely have to give this one a try! How long have you been doing the workout? And have you seen any results yet?

    Hi!
I have been doing the 'workout' for 2 weeks now, so I am still mastering a lot of the moves... well, most of the moves if I am honest. However, each time I do it I get the hang of it more. I cannot stress enough the pain you are in the day after your first workout. (but, it's a virtuous, smug pain). You can casually mention in conversations how sore you are after your workout... Instant admiration! Even sitting down took extra thought and planning.. lol. The muscles have eased off more, so it does get easier. It is still too early to see any significant improvement on the wobbly bits, but you feel fantastic after completing the whole routine. You 'feel' more toned and if you combine this with healthy eating you just know that the results you crave can be achieved.
You have to let me know how you get on if you decide to buy. Good luck.
