Alfa Romeo Brera 2.4 JTDM Review

Beautiful looking, eye catching machine that performs much better than I ever imagined after reading some early magazines reviews. As a former late Model BMW owner of a 5 Series, I found the Alfa is a far better road car and over sppeds of 100 Miles an hour it starts to go like a dream. In fact at any speed it drives smoothly. A great car to drive for drivings sake and the perfect two person sports vehicle with more room in the rear seats that at first glance. And which has far more boot room than I imagined if the seats are put down. Enough for four suitcases and for the snow fields the perfect machine. My BMW didn't like wet conditions or snow that much, my new Alfa thrives on snow and doesn't need chains except in very poor conditions. The Diesel turbo kicks in and gives all the power any sports couple would ever want and on a long run I get 40 to the Gallon. I can't yet find any fault and the finish is superb. Then again I have all the options plus some not even listed officially. Built in GPS is spot on and heated and adjustable seats are very comfortable and great power side mirrors give a panoramic view. I have to agree with the guys on Top Gear. It's not a Ferrari, but lovely to drive and ten times better better to look at.

While interior is first class and the leather is soft and comfortable, if you are over 6'2" then your head will hit the roof and while two kids are very comfortable in the back seats, the Mother-in-law and Grandpa better be small. No handle grips near doors and glove box needs more room. Road noise could be reduced just a little.

I nearly got put off buying this car by magazine reviews, who, while they said is was a beautiful design they picked flaws in the road performance and some of the interior facilities. They are so wrong in all of this. But I bought it for the beauty and graceful lines and the fact that I would have a car few others would have. The surprise was in the end that is drives like a dream, can pass 80% of cars in a real hurry when you learn the gears and the ride is superb - and while no one ever commented when I drove my new Model BMW, I get told daily by someone 'What lovely an eye catching car.' That makes my day!
