Good Points

Excellent touring car, great brakes and handling, nice interior fit out, powerful air-conditioner and quick acting heater, classy look and solid feel.

Bad Points

Small motor and heavy body make for slow acceleration in traffic and on hills at low speeds unless higher revs used. Clunk in transmission/brakes from new when reversing out of garage, high service costs once a year. Front suspension had to have new rubber bushes under 100,000 km. Poor quality on delivery spoiled experience of buying 1st new Merc - drivers side rear guard paint not finished properly in factory. Aircon failed in first week due to faulty electrical connection in wet weather resulting in unsafe misting up of windows and Mercedes roadside assistance totally unhelpful on that occasion.

General Comments

This car has been generally driven by my wife and has done only about 10,000 k per annum. It still looks and feels like new inside and drives very nicely. Biggest trip was to Melbourne Cup (2000k) with 2 couples and car crammed full of suitcases and hat boxes and it went like a dream. This is a great touring car with excellent handing and the best brakes of any car I have ever driven. A bit underpowered with the 4 cylinder 1800cc around town but fine if you use the auto gear box in manual to get the revs up a bit. Still looks and feels like a Merc after 9 years, albeit not top of the range.
