“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - the DHD4000...”

★★★★★

Good Points
Good quality playback from recordings. Easy to use. Relatively easy upgrade on hard drive (Voids Warranty) I've currently got a 160GB Seagate HDD in mine (Unit only recognises 127 GB of the drive). Two SCART outs (1 TV + 1 DVD/VCR). Optical sound out.

Bad Points
Turns off through the night (around 3am) to check for firmware updates and messages. Remote usable but has poor infra-red sensitivity. Lacks series link. No option for Top Up TV. No quick link to PC (e.g. USB or Ethernet ports).

General Comments
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - the DHD4000 isn't as ugly as people say - especially when its behind smoked glass TV cabinet, the blue LEDs are quite nice. Some say the internal fan and hum of the hard drive is noisy but its not a problem for most, again, especially when its in a cabinet.
