Cheap: found at Wal-Mart for $125
Accurate: Shoot pine cones at 20 yards w/ open sight and just kill a starling at 25 yards w/ open sights
Trigger: Many people complain about the fake 2 stage trigger, but for me it works just fine. I actually like the trigger as it is, compared to some 2 stage triggers I have used.
Good Quality: The wood and metal components are superior to other Chinese made guns (ie. Crosman Quest)
The only bad point I can pick out is the lose cocking mechanism: the lever rattles a bit when shaken. But this does not affect he performance of the gun at all.
Wow! What a good thing it was for me to return my Crosman Quest and purchase this fine Beeman ss1000 (Dubbed Model 1100 by Wal-Mart). Originally, I was looking to buy a cheap springer to get into this sport and do some plinking/small game hunting. I had my eyes set on the quest and bought it even though it received mediocre ratings on this site.
Boy did I made a mistake. The quest was too inaccurate and had many rough edges in its craftsmanship. For me, it had a ~2in. spread at 15 yards.
Enter the Beeman ss1000; I returned the quest and promptly purchased the ss1000; for only $35 more than the quest, I feel that this is a great deal. Out of the box, it has already surpassed the quest in terms of accuracy and stability. I was able to take the ss1000 straight out of its packaging and start nailing pine cones (about 2in. diameter) at 20 yards. And just this morning a hit and killed a starling at 25 yards. Note that this was all done without a scope. I can't wait to test this baby out with the 3-9x32 scope that it came with.
All in all, this rifle is a great product, esp. at a bargain price of $125. Anyone looking for his/her first springer should take a look at the Beeman ss1000.
