Good Points

I have had my Focus ST170 a week now and loving it! Yes i agree with other reviews that its not a wild pocket rocket hatchback that screams around with a loud exhaust! It is more of a sophisticated car that does not shout its intentions but is quietly understated with impeccable road manners - I think this was the original intention of the Ford designers for the ST170. The power is there if you need it.
Mine has 5 doors which is great for my two boys child seats in the back, it has the optional full leather Recaro sports seats which are fantastically supportive and comfortable together with the xenon headlights and climate control. The car is metalic black and looks great with the black Recaro seats. All this and I paid £6000 for it with a full Ford service history and 63k on the clock.

Bad Points

I have only had a few niggles with the in dash CD player which sometimes will not play a CD but Ford is looking into this.

General Comments

For the Ford Focus ST170 I part-exchanged my 2002 Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI Ghia which I had for 3 years, this was a very good all round car that was a treat with the TDCI engine, lots power when the turbo kicked in! The only down side was the uncomfortable seats with the dull grey fabric trim. The problem I had was that I liked the car as an overall package and fuel economy but wanted something more sporty that could still have the kids in the back. I tried a Hyundai Coupe which was OK but cramped and a Peugeot 406 Coupe but the handling was sluggish, I also tried a Mondeo but this was too big and a dull ride. The ST seemed to tick all the boxes and not cost the earth to upgrade my old car. I just hope that I don't have any major problems with it?
