Bad Points

I sell radiology equipment covering numerous states and ACT has been my DB software for close to 10 years. It has worked great until I upgraded to the 2007 version. This last version is horrible especially the customer service/support which is pretty much non-existant.
Just a few of the issues:
-When you try to convert your previous ACT database, to the new 2007 version, it doesn't work. You will definitely have to call for help. Be prepared to wait a VERY long time on the phone and most likely will have to pay for the time.
-Once in the 2007 version, you try to change the "User" field, that doesn't work either. You will, again, have to call.
-If you call outside the 30 day window, be ready with your credit card because it will be required to get past the "sales" department who monitor ALL technical support calls. These customer reps are arrogant and condescending because they know that you need their help and have nowhere else to go. They did offer me a "$299/year contract to get my problems fixed or I could just live with it." Those were their words, not mine! And when I said No, I wasn't going to pay $299 for technical support, he stated and I quote, "if you're not going to help me, then I'm not going to help you" and he hung up. I was pretty stunned.


General Comments

I didn't get my problems solved so I will do my best to get ACT out of my business and find a better solution.

If you're considering ACT! software, all I can tell you is: don't do it! I hate to say that, because I loved this software up until the last version (I guess when Sage took over?), but the complete lack of customer support has pushed me too far.
