Good Points

Liked look of the furniture in the shop

Bad Points

Appalling service. Ordered end Feb 2007, delivered July 2007 after 10 phone calls to customer services. Staff always promised to update me on progress of order but never called back - I always had to chase, Charged my M&S credit card even though they had no idea when furniture would arrive ( I eventually managed to sort out interest free credit option but only after three phone calls to call centre). Three weeks after furniture delivered we noticed sawdust and discovered beetles in coffee table - one drawer is completely pitted with beetle bore holes and parts of the supports of the coffee table have holes. Despite phoning customer services immediately and telling them we have oak flooring throughout our ground floor and that we are very worried about damage to our home they have still not phoned back to sort out this mess. Yet again I will have to phone.

General Comments

I would NEVER buy Marks and Spencer's furniture again. If we have ended up with wood beetle infestation on top of all the hassle and inconvenience.

This is unbelievable especially for Marks & Spencer!

Sounds like they have the same problem with their staff as a lot of companies do at the moment.... hopefully their head office staff know what they are doing. The infested furniture should have been collected immediately as it may be a health hazard. If you have children in the house try using that angle although in all honesty you shouldn't have to do any of this - they should uplift and refund and then replace at no cost - they can afford it and its a small price to pay to save their reputation!

Wish we had seen this review BEFORE we purchased from the MALABAR range at Marks and Spencer, which has introduced this beetle to our home. See separate review.

We have had the same problem with the Malabar range so it makes me wonder how many others have. Can't believe you had the problem in July 2007, we purchased our furniture in September 2007, it was delivered late October and we discovered the beetles April 2008. They really should have withdrawn the furniture from sale and recalled the stuff they had already sold! As far as I know they are still selling it now. I am appalled.
