This is the nearest you will experience to the analogue sound at below £500 in my opinion. The output is >2v so may need attenuation into some pre-amps - then it is sweet. If not attenuated then the sound is harsh, 2D, bloated and unpleasant.
Bad Points
I'm onto my second transport! My experience of Philips transports is that they fail!

I've not had problems with the high output level. The built in electronic volume control works really well (if you did have a problem) and takes nothing away from the fabulous sound quality of this player.
The sound stage from this player is huge with great finesse as well. The player also feels well built. I don't intend parting with mine.
