jethroedavies's Review of Natwest Advantage Gold Bank Account
26th Jul 2007
Overall Rating
- Customer Service

- Ease of use

Fairly good online banking facility.
Good at giving a good overdraft limit for the 'just in case'.
Bad Points
Don't carry out promises.
Money spent on the Advantage gold card is a waste unless you can take full advantage of it.
General Comments
I have been a Natwest customer for 23 years and have been a loyal customer for all those years. I purchased a house and was offered a mortgage and upgrade of my account to Advantage Gold Account as I was told by the bank representative that I could reduce my mortgage rate if I did so. I looked around at other mortgages and Natwest could not offer no where near the better offers elsewhere so I decided to go for the better offer. As I had my buildings Insurance with Natwest it was in my best interests to keep the Advantage Gold Account for the better rate. Recently I remortgaged my house and Natwest offered me a mortgage and if I got offered a better mortgage elsewhere they would pay me £1000.00 well that never materialised. Further to that, as I was intending to let the property Natwest refused to insure the property unless I had a mortgage with them. I feel unless you can take advantage of all that is offered from the Advantage Gold Account then it is a waste of money. However if you like holidays, spending more money on CD's, videos etc, spending more on your mortgage then its the perfect account for you. I will in the near future be closing my accounts with Natwest.
