I like the people on the site who, like me have joined,

I joined the £9.99 premium, special 6 month offer, that is all I wanted.
I was asked if I wanted the £4.99 extra but there was no where to say yes or no, and I didn't want it , however they asked was I happy with the premium, I took it for granted they meant the £9.99 one, so I ticked yes.

I received a bill for £59 94. I have tried to find them, contact them, have spent a fortune on phone calls, but no way can I talk to anyone who can help me, and so next week I am going to see the local council people.

I am 71 years of age and no way would I pay that amount of money on a dating page.
Also at the time I did not have the amount in my account.

I was conned out of this money, I know it and now you know it, and even if I look a silly old woman I do not care as long as I get my money back.
I love my AOL, but this time they cannot help me, so I will find someone who, like me does not like to see people conned out of their money.
So, who ever reads this, please help me to get my £50 back.

Any company that does not give easy direction for people to contact them in cases like this should not be permitted to run anything, after all, they are, in a round about way working for us, who pay them, but to take money from people like they took it from me is WITHOUT DOUBT a criminal offence, and one I shall fight.
Just let them watch me.

  Hi Barbara, I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. This site used to be a good and honest dating site. The new chairman is someone called Alistair Shrimpton. I hope you can find him on the internet. The site owners have recently done a deal with Vodafone. Maybe you can also email them to tell them that you believe this site to be disreputable. It really appears to be a rip off site ....but there are some genuine people out there and members of this site....sadly (I think) also being ripped off by the new site owners.
  Dating Direct is now totally disreputable to my mind. I have had so many winks from people from overseas who seem to be fake profiles......."basic" members..... but from one of whom I've received an email reply......."basic" members are not supposed to be able to email!
  Please contact your bank or credit card company to cancel your membership.....you wont be able to cancel it via the site. It would seem that all they want is people's money.

  Having written to the company I have been told I cannot have a refund and can change my money's only when the 6 months is up, when then they will take the payment out of my bank. I do not want them taking money out of my bank, but I cannot let them know easily.
  I am worried sick about this company, even when they write to me I cannot write back via the internet.
  
  Someone out their should be able to help.

  My friend just phoned with a similar problem, he actually cancelled after 6 months and they still took his money again.
  Tip - don't use credit cards, the bank wont help. If you sign a continuous credit card debit, only dating direct can cancel. Use a debit card and you can cancel.
