Good Points

Two of these were imported into New Zealand in 2006 and I bought one sight unseen, to replace a Burgman 400. I have also had a Forza and a Silver Wing. The Atlantic is a good solid bike but only a bit over 200 kgs. Goes well (will just do 160 km/hr) and a little better if you take out the restrictor before the air cleaner. Very economical (4.5 l/100km). For me it is very comfortable and allows me to sit upright and see nicely over the screen. Big fat comfortable seat without adjustable backrest. Good paint job. Reliable and always starts right away (even after a 6 week break). Brakes good, tyre life seems OK. Underseat quite large but a strange shape. Good resistance to being blown about. Good motorway bike. Very smooth (although a 460 cc single - Piaggio engine and drive - it is quieter and smoother than my Silver Wing - but doesn't go as well).

Bad Points

A few rattles. Sometimes feels as if it is wandering a bit. It is a bit high - 780 mm seat height and I can only get both feet flat on flat ground (although of course on a scooter, you can always slip forward off the seat). Really not much wrong with it for me. Looks a bit bulky from the rear.

General Comments

I have enjoyed this bike. Like someone else I gave up bikes for a hip replacement and have never looked back. I enjoy riding this - a bit more positive roadholding and a bit more grunt would be good but I may be influenced by the SW (which is fast and greedy and more like a bike). It was cheap at the time and has been good value for me. I'd recommend it but remember big scooters are big and they are heavy - this weighs around 210 kg vs 150-160 for a 500 cc bike.
