Accurate
Humane knockdown ability
2 years ago I purchased a .22 cal BSA Superten Bull Barrel along with a tin of JSB Predators & a box each of 16 grain & 20.5 grain Logun Penetrators. In order to see what impact they have I took empty 1 gal steel paint cans filled with water, and set them up 90 feet away. Both Loguns would go through both sides of the can with ease (as do Kodiaks) whereas the JSB would penetrate one side only. I retrieved the tip and the flattened pellet from the water in the can to see a deep dent in the rear of the can. Now we talking! The tip will frag off and the "now" a hollow point pellet flattens. That's going to do some heavy duty damage to the vitals. They are a cinch for a clean take down on squirrels and rabbits but the most impressive takeouts have been on 20 lb plus groundhogs (woodchucks to some of you). Chest shots have dropped them in their tracks. The pellet obviously doing it's thing and spreading the damage. I've also done a head shot which is saying something being groundhogs have thick skulls. Shots with other pellets have not always been as humane. The only problem I have is that due to the length of the pellet it won't rotate in my magazines, so I load in 9 heavyweights then the last chamber gets a JSB that will load right in the barrel. As for accuracy, at 90 feet I am able to shoot the caps off of 12 oz water bottles and group 5 shots inside a dime. A couple of bucks more for a tin? Well worth it. I'll take quality vs. quantity any day. I would like to see the pellet weight get upped to 18-20 grains for even more energy but then I probably would have to load them in directly to the barrel. Pick up a tin and try the paint can test yourself. In the last 2 years they have become more and more available. Last year while visiting a "Cabela's" I found them behind the counter in both .177 and .22.
