Remote monitoring service allows live video streaming of the cctv camera over my mobile phone! Range of cheap additional accessories means that you can customise as much as you want without spending £100's. Really easy to use platform compared to other network camera set-ups (tried with a Panasonic BLC-1 but couldn't work it!). Only £199 inc a quality IP camera.
Bad Points
Monthly subscription is payable up front rather than a smaller monthly sum. Only remote storage of captured data not local. Controller has to be connected to your broadband at all times in order to work. No pet proof motion sensors. I got the impression not all mobiles worked with the live video streaming but a WAP application instead.
General Comments
Must be a small company as I spent ages looking for a well priced solution so i could monitor my house remotely and found these guys after visiting grand designs in June.
The way it works is you connect the gateway to your broadband, buy the remote service account which is mandatory and they send you details of how to activate. Then you just discover each device one at a time. The kit contains an IP camera (that i connected by using a ethernet over power plug to avoid miles of cable) and a door sensor that just sticks on. It's really easy to install but I did use their online live chat facility to check i was installing correctly as you have to do things in a certain order.
I bought some power controllers that i put my audiovisual equipment on and set a rule for them to turn off at midnight and come back on the next day when we get in again as the telewest box came on and burnt onto my LCD screen last year - grrrr. The great feature really is the remote monitoring as i bought text bundles (only about 15p per text i think) and set up a rule for the system to text me when motion is detected and then i can log in on my mobile and see what's happening. Have caught the cat out so far when we forgot to put her out one day, but i know the system works well. Have had it up and running for 3 weeks now and plan to buy the thermostat before winter as i can then turn the heating on while I'm on the train home! Overall is a really clever system for a great price.
