I and my partner had a number of bad experiences with Natwest. We both have been with them for more than 7 years.
To mention a few: when I had to cancel my debit card due to a fraud, it took them about 2 months to issue a new one. They managed to send it to a branch where I do not bank, then promised to make a fast transfer to my address, and managed to lose the card somewhere.
Then they had troubles sending me the pin, and as a result the best solution they found was to cancel the card and re-issue it.
On another occasion I needed to cancel my standing order about 3 days before the payment was due - and they told me the money was gone by that time and it was my problem how I could get it back.
They offered me their brand new service of free of charge international money transfers. All they wanted was my agreement to proceed with it, promising a fast opening of this facility. It has been 4 months since they assured me that it takes about 2 weeks to do, and nothing has happened yet. When I asked for explanation - I was told that there was a backlog with the number of applicants, and I'm in the waiting list for an appointment with the sale manager.
My partner has a mortgage with them, and they deliberately increased his fixed rate - and it took him lots of phone calls to cancel this increase, which should not have happened in the first place.
Natwest proved to be negligent, slow, inefficient. I'm moving my accounts from them.
