General Comments

I did 70,000 miles in this as a company car. The engine was great and it was a good car to drive.
It had been back to the main dealers TWICE by the time it had done 120 miles due to central locking problems. It would either not lock or unlocks by itself. Plus all the windows stuck open. This was NEVER resolved. I could return to the car having locked it to find it unlocked, occasionally with all the windows open too. This might not happen for about 3 months, then it could happen 3 or 4 times in the same week. Several dealers had a go at this one and I am sure they never really believed me. That was their attitude towards me anyway.
At about 25,000 miles the clutch quite literally exploded - there was smoke coming out from under the car. I found it difficult to believe when the AA man told me it was the clutch, I thought the engine had blown up and I was only coming out of a side turning!
This was kept quiet by Ford, but more than once the clutch pedal jammed half way up/down and locked the brake pedal so that I could not brake. I had to pull the clutch pedal up with my left foot before I could brake. I called the AA as I refused to drive it after the first time and he said that he had heard of this before with the 'New Mondeo' . Needless to say the main dealer could not find anything wrong. My fleet company did not want to know, but our company ran hundreds of Mondeos and some of my colleagues had this happen to them too.
When my department was sold to another company I was alone in that I was not allowed to take this car with me thank God, and I was given another one. This one was collected by Fords and taken to their place in Southampton I discovered later.
I would never actually buy a Ford with my own money and would not choose one as a company car. I have had a Vauxhall Zafira for 2 & half years and NOTHING has gone wrong with it.
