General Comments

I took out an annual multi-trip policy with Atlas Travel.

My girlfriend had her bag stolen on the second day of our two week holiday in Calella, Costa Brava. In the bag was €100, our hotel keys and various other items of value, including a new purse, sunglasses and some clothing.
We had to make two visits to the police station by taxi to report the crime.

This was my girlfriend's first holiday without her parents. Her grandparents had bought her some of the things that were stolen as presents and they had not kept the receipts.
We had actually exchanged £400 sterling on our first day but I did not keep the receipt, I did not expect to be robbed, and my bank statement showed that that I did not withdraw any cash until the second week of our holiday.
When I returned home I reported the loss to Atlas Travel. They sent me a claim form and asked for original purchase receipts of the items stolen and my bank statements to prove that I had withdrawn the cash.
I sent them the only relevant documents I had, which were the police reports and inventory, along with taxi receipts and my bank statements, but I never heard from them again. They did however try to take the money from my bank account to renew the annual policy this year 2007!
