Habbo Hotel is a graphical chat environment for teenagers on the Internet. Launched in January 2001, the site already has a community of nearly three million members.
The UK site and international hub is located at www.habbohotel.com. Built in Macromedia Shockwave Director, the website takes the form of a virtual 3D hotel, where members can roam the 100,000-plus public spaces and guest rooms. The realistic experience provides teenagers with a valuable outlet for creativity and personal expression.
Members create a customised animated character, known as a Habbo. Habbos are able to talk, shout, walk, dance and swim, and can change appearance as often as the member chooses. Guest rooms are free to own, and can be furnished with a wide range of purchasable virtual items.
Habbo Ltd is serious about ensuring the safety of its members. The site is moderated 24-hours a day, and is backed-up by unique safety software to protect members from inappropriate or abusive behaviour.
The Habbo youth brand primarily targets the teen community, but is enhanced by interactions between members of different ages and cultures. Habbo Hotel is the ideal vehicle for third party brands to reach this highly desired 12-18 year-old market in a cost-effective and creative manner. Branding opportunities available to teen-focused products include sponsorship, innovative advertising solutions and market research.
