Good Points

The staff were very very friendly. The hotel had good swimming pools. Good location, not too near and not too far from the main strip.


Bad Points

No air conditioning. Rooms were very very basic and please don't misinterpret this, British prisoners get more in their cells. Towels and sheets were only changed once per week.


General Comments

I was very optimistic to see what this hotel was like. I had read reviews from this website and all were very good, so this put my mind at ease for a very short while until I had arrived. On arrival I was devastated about the lack of facilities in the rooms. To describe, the rooms had a double bed, single bed, toilet, sink, shower, a very tacky wardrobe, a 4ft in length balcony, a chest of drawers, two mirrors and 1 power socket. This applies to all rooms except for two of which didn't have balconies. No rooms in the hotels had air conditioning either. The heat in Malia was really warm and at night when trying to sleep the temperature was still around 25c. Staying in the hotel two nights we asked for the sheets to be changed as we had been sweating and the sheets were very dirty, the hotel staff replied that the sheets and towels only got changed after the midweek change over due to new arrivals, which is very unacceptable. We also had the bed and breakfast which we went to for the first day, to find that it only consisted of two pieces of toast and two biscuits. You can imagine that we didn't go back for that again. I have gave an actual account on all of these issues and had a good holiday trying to make the best from a bad situation. The people that run the hotel are very nice people, take them out of the Elen Hotel and out them in a hotel with decent facilities and you would have a great holiday. Taking all into account, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, but if you were going in winter for a clubbing holiday, this would be the ideal place for you.

    The hotel is great, it's what you pay for and 99 quid for a week is what you pay for it. No one ever gets up for breakfast so why do a proper one? In Malia you only need a bed really. So what about the heat, you could be in England paddling instead! Malia is great! I got drunk every night, sleep it off and then lie by one of the 2 pools. So I didn't care that my room was small, I'm not exactly going to have a party in it!
