heatherman's Review of Spear & Jackson SPJBC28 Grass Trimmer

Overall Rating

Good Points

Cheap.
Worked well whilst it was working.

Bad Points

Difficult to find as stock levels are low. Mine failed after 10 minutes (+ 2 hours assembly time from poor instructions). Failed due to starter cord getting stuck after pulling - now won't recoil, so engine can't be started. Returned to store for refund.

General Comments

It feels like the quality of the Spear & Jackson SPJBC28 strimmer has been compromised to get a low price.

Yes this did happen to mine unfortunatly I was a long way from the shop. I removed the end cover and rewound the rope around the around the start drum. I think this occured because the pull chord slipped out of my hand when starting the moral is hang on to the pull chord tight! I also had a devils own job to adjust the carburettor as the mixture screws are "tamperproof". Had to remove the screws with sharpend pliers and put saw cuts on the screw heads.

I agree with this review because...it keeps stalling, have used a lot of strimmers in my time, but must say it's cheap and it has earnt it's money for the amount of grass i cut. must try to get those carb screws out and adjust it.
