Good Points

Powerful.
Versatile.
Economical.

Bad Points

I've had a little petrol dribbling out of the tank when in use - I think maybe I lost a washer or something that helps with the tank seal at some point, but I've avoided this problem by only filling the tank half full.

General Comments

I bought a McCulloch Tivoli 63 Petrol Hedge Cutter 14 years ago, and it's worked very well for me. You have to get the hang of using some choke initially, and then running without choke, but that's normal for any small petrol engine like device like this; I've never failed to get it to start. The machine has cut through hedges, twigs, small branches, weeds and everything I've used it for. The reach is of course limited if you've got very tall hedges, and because of the weight of the machine, I wouldn't want to be up a ladder with it. You get plenty of cutting out of a tiny amount of fuel. Overall, a tremendous garden workhorse.

It's not a bad hedge trimmer in terms of performance if a little too heavy to use for more than 40 mins. I noticed a little dribble of fuel which has now turned into a flood. This is caused by the fuel tank being in contact with the metal casting and having melted. Another problem with holing the tank is it makes a warm restart impossible as the fuel drops back into the tank before the engine can really get going. So not a bad machine if used in very short bursts but watch for fuel leaks, its the start to trouble.
