Good Points

We arrived at the Spyridoula apartments after 9.30pm and were greeted with orange juice and a bottle of water which was a nice touch.

The apartments are basic, but traditionally Greek and very clean, with the room being cleaned each day. Air conditioning costs 6 Euros per day, at this time of year it was imperative as there was a heatwave when we arrived so it made sleeping more comfortable. The walk to Perissa Beach took ten minutes approx with the nearest supermarket a 5 minute walk - (this supermarket was good for the basics but there was a lot more choice at the Co-op and the prices were very reasonable).


Bad Points

There were limited bad points to the holiday, but the one thing that did disappoint us was that on the last day of our holiday we had to vacate the apartment by 10:30am (our pick up time was not until 17:45 - Newcastle and later still 19:45 for the Gatwick flight). We did ask if we could have the room a little longer and offered to pay but the owners said no and when guests asked the rep if this was possible she failed to come back with a response. This put a dampener on the last day as it was so hot and there were no real facilities to shower, there was a small room made available to guests which the owners used to store blankets and general junk. The room had a toilet and a very basic shower which was a hose attached to the wall beside the toilet. We couldn't see any reason why our rooms could not have been vacated later that day as the new people would not have arrived until at least 18:00.


General Comments

There is a great 24 hour bakery right beside the Co-op which has great pizzas and sandwiches for under 2 Euros each.

An average meal for two including a litre of house wine cost 20 Euros approx. Half a litre of beer 2 Euros and to hire a quad bike approx 10 Euros per day, well worth it to see the rest of the island.

Although there is no pool at the Spyridoula the hotel Artemis (around the corner approx 2 minute walk away) has a pool bar, serving basic snacks too. The pool bar is only available until 18.30 which was a shame for those people staying at the hotel.

Good recommendations for restaurants:
Laterna - 5 minute walk.
Cyclades - 5 minute walk.
Acropolis - 15 min walk - Perissa sea front.
Volcano - as above.
Dorian's bar is a must for families and couples, serving cheap cocktails with a very friendly service. This is situated on the main road about 200 yards before the Co-op.
