We booked the apartment directly with the owner, not through a holiday company. We normally book our holidays this way. We find it cheaper or the same price as the package holidays but usually get better accommodation and know that we are not going to get transferred to another hotel. The apartment was of a good size, clean, and it had a double bed. We are not keen on the Spanish custom of single beds. The complex is very pretty and quiet. The price was cheap compared to others in the area. There are plenty of sun beds by the pool - which is a good sun trap. The complex is very near to the restaurants and bars in the local centre and the golf course.
This is us being picky - there was no view from the apartment and the Sand Club only really has a swimming pool by way of facilities. But that is all we wanted a nice apartment and a pool.
We have been before to Golf Del Sur - it is on the airport flight path but you soon get used to the noise of the planes coming in. The area is a lot more sedate than Los Christanos or Las Americas, but is a bit of British enclave and not really a part of the real island. We would not recommend it for teenagers or those who like lager and clubs as there are no clubs - which is great for those of us who passed on getting drunk every night and having to walk through the after effects the following morning, which is why we like the area.
