My hubby and myself were met at Arrecife airport in Lanzarote by Saga Rep. Rep organised alternative accommodation for us as soon as problem was obvious. Taken to alternative accommodation where Rep sorted out things with reception. Met other rep following morning who offered apologies from Saga and informed us that we were now booked in for all inclusive at our new hotel instead of half board at original destination, without any further cost to ourselves. Also informed we would get £100 each as compensation.
Although our holiday had been confirmed by Saga, when we met Rep at airport she had no details about us. On arriving at hotel we were told there were no rooms available. Quickly given alternative accommodation at another resort and hotel. Were a bit shaken because had the rep not been still waiting for other guests we would have missed her and been stranded at the airport and then had to make our own way to hotel only to be told we were not booked in!! Resort was not what we had chosen and meant daily bus journeys if we wanted anything other than the hotel we were staying in.
Arriving back in London at 1.00am was a bit of a nuisance as it meant staying overnight in London in a hotel as the first flight from London was not until 6.20am.
As this was a reasonably cheap late holiday booking, my husband and I were delighted with Saga's compensation to us for changing our hotel and for the inconvenience we suffered. Having travelled to London from Glasgow to get our flight, we were pretty tired by the time we got to Lanzarote. Discovering we were not going to where we had booked could have been upsetting, but as this was our first trip to Lanzarote, it did not bother us too much. As it was we were delighted with the beautiful Iberostar Hotel in Puerto Calera and to get it all inclusive was a real bonus, plus our cash compensation into the bargain. We can't thank Saga enough for our wonderful holiday and we will certainly deal with saga Holidays in the future as well as recommending them to friends and family.
