Inexpensive furniture that seems to be precisely made. Holes line up and parts fit together fairly well.
Packaged kits may not have all required parts.
Center mattress support is not included in bed frame kits. The web site says it's included, but on-line and in the store, customer service representatives say it is not included.
Packaged kits may not have all required parts (accidentally). Sometimes someone goofs at the factory and a piece of hardware is missing (screw, dowel or some other part).
Screws strip out easily in holes pre-drilled into particle board...
Phillips head screws are cut too shallow to allow good engagement with standard screw drivers. It makes it harder to start the screws, especially if they go into a place with tight access.
If you dislike the vastness and confusion of places like Walmart Super centers or Home Depot, you will certainly hate Ikea stores. What a chaotic mess! Signs are not placed intuitively, and they are not clear and informative. Most of the employees don't know a lot of the products. To assemble, you must have a good ability to infer the purpose of the steps outlined in the instructions, and to visualize the outcome of each step. The instructions have no words, just pictures. Parts and pieces have no names or meaningful identifiers.
