Good Points
Friendly receptionist.
Bad Points
This hotel is a glorified B&B, the room was tiny, the bed was barely a double (my partner is 6' 2") and the view of the lake was distant. The leisure facilities were half a mile up the road at another hotel, a friend of the hotelier. On arrival we were met by a friendly receptionist who told us about the facilities, the dining room and the video collection were available to guests. We got the impression that she expected us to be tucked up in bed by 10pm. The hotel was shabby and in need of redecoration.
General Comments
The car park was tiny and it was suggested that you leave your car keys with the hotel, just in case they needed to move your car! We booked through an online company, which stated that a deposit was required and the full balance was to be paid on departure but this hotel took the whole £300 for 3 nights on booking. There was an intercom in the bedroom, which the hotelier wasn't afraid to use in the middle of the night to communicate with guests. A bit strange and not a hotel I would recommend. We never met the owners and we decided to find a more suitable hotel, costly but well worth it. Think twice before booking into Oakbank House.

Danny Thompson's Response to paulachapman's Review

As the owner I must point out that this guest had to be ejected from the guest house at 2 o'clock in the morning because he would not stop smoking and was being rude and abusive.
I make no apology for this because we are non-smoking and he knew this before he booked.
I hope this response helps the reader to form a more balanced view.
