Good Points

Economical - 480 miles on one tank of petrol (equivalent to 10 hours 20 mins driving).
Good interior space for a small car.
Low Road Tax & insurance.
I've been assured (by a vehicle engineer with over 20 years experience and his own business) the Peugeot-fitted immobiliser is excellent.
It doesn't look like a featureless tin box.

Bad Points

None.

General Comments

I bought my Peugeot 206 hoping for a car which was simply cheap to run and good for stop-start city driving during the rush hour. By pure chance a local dealer had just put one up for sale. So, armed with no idea at all what to expect, I arranged a test drive to see if these little hatchbacks are all they're cracked up to be.
The test drive went well, and two weeks later the car was mine. So, when I arranged a long holiday in the Highlands of Scotland, my little car was perfect for hauling a huge amount of equipment nearly 500 miles. In fact, the boot area and rear seats were packed full of camping equipment. Amazingly (and although I'd been told otherwise) the car made it 480 miles on just 1 tank of fuel (about 55 litres), and still had enough juice left to allow me to find a petrol station amongst the Torridons!
The road handling of the car got put through it's paces, too. Bendy country roads, narrow lanes, dirt tracks, and even the motorway in torrential rain. Not one single problem at all, especially as the car was again fully-laden on the motorway (and I suspected this would compromise the steering).

This car gets a 100% recommendation from me. No surprise this once held the distinction of being the bestselling hatchback in the UK!

    The Stig agrees.

The Peugeot shows exceptional performance for a car built purely for economy.
