Good Points
Service
Flexibility (see below)
Quality of food
Value for money
Use of local produce
Bad Points
Agree with previous review that the extension area is rather souless compared to the very genuine village pub feel of the rest of the place.
General Comments
We clearly have had very different experiences of The Cock from others reviewing it. We are both picky vegetarians, and the first time we rang to book we asked if there could be a choice of veggie main courses. Not only was this no problem over the phone, when we arrived the Maitre d' recognised us as soon as we gave our name, and we were offered a choice of three dishes.
The service, especially on the first visit was superb, never intrusive but always there whenever we wanted anything.
The food has never been anything less than good; usually great. Light, well-cooked, tasty and attractive.
We loved the use of seasonal vegetables and locally-sourced produce generally.
We have really enjoyed our first two experiences, and we are looking forward to taking friends there in two weeks time.
