The good points of this vehicle are pretty obvious, power, power, power.
The low points are relatively few:
(1) Poor gas mileage (offset by the 345 HP)
(2) Luggage room
I bought my ML55 used a little over a year ago for $20K. It is a one owner and had 50K on it when I got it along with all service records. The things that everyone complains about (poor build quality causing rattles, etc) had been sorted out by the time I got it. For close to 70 large I have to agree that some of the interior pieces are pretty cheesy such as the flimsy glove box door, etc. For $20K it's the best vehicle I have ever seen. Power, traction, looks, comfort etc are all unbelievable. I would highly recommend one. There is nothing in the mid size SUV arena that comes close to the ML55. I sold my 91 Porsche 911 and my 2000 Durango and bought the Benz. It satisfies the sports car feel and can also run to Home Depot or pull an 18' ski boat with no problem. It also only takes up one garage space. The only drawback is the fuel "economy". The 5.5 liter AMG V8 is worth the price of admission for sure. It's actually close to what I got in my 318 Durango around town and a little better on the highway. I average around 14 MPG overall.
