They're a Bank!
They love to extend your overdraft and increase your debt and to load charges on whenever possible.
I originally had an account with National & Provincial and everything was fine until they were taken over by AbbeyBank. Then the charges started - I'd been made redundant and tried to cancel all my direct debits and standing orders, but not in time - that month they charged me £200 and the following £295, having given me charges because the charges I'd paid had taken me into overdraft. After a few years of this (I really don't know why that long) I then claimed back my charges over the past 5 years - it took a while and the Ombudsman was involved, but eventually I got back over £4,000. Their adverts used to say "because life's too hard "- but only because they make it so - I Bank with Bank of Scotland now and have no problems at all - STAY AWAY FROM THE ABBEY!
