Good Points

We came on the this holiday for 7 days. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and very helpful, they provided an excellent service. We got on really well with the staff at the Palm Grove and one of them in particular, who took us around and also looked after us, we tipped him with a £10 note for his service, as we felt he deserved it. We saw Charlie the crocodile, which was worth seeing and also around Roots Village which was a real eye opener and very sad.

Bad Points

When we first arrived in Banjul, the coach was really in a bad state and the air conditioning was blowing out warm air, not quite what we expected but on the way back, on the last day of our holiday, we had a much better coach, which is only what you'd expect. You do get badgered by the bumsters but a firm no usually suffices. We were disappointed that the air conditioning was not included in the hotel price and it was a total rip off as they wanted to charge us £9 per night, we ended up with a fan.

General Comments

For me personally 7 days is long enough for me at any one time. I cannot However, I can't fault the service of the hotel as entertainment was provided each night, juggling acts, dancers etc. Although it was our first time to Gambia and we didn't know what to expect it was much better than we had expected. We had read up on reports before we went and one of the suggestions were to bring books, pencils and sweets, which we did and this really went down well with the children, it brought tears to our eyes to see how appreciated this was.

We really enjoyed the food and we were half board. I would however, like to try Senegambia another time, this is by recommendation but would want to visit the Palm Grove just to see the staff again. We also struck up relationships with other holiday makers, who we will no doubt keep in touch with. Thank you also very much to the staff, as they really looked after us.

On a final note, there is something about Gambia which made us feel drawn to come back again and I know that we will.
