Good for system backups as disks can be reused quickly.
Doesn't require any extra software like burning CDs.
Iomega Zip Disks are very expensive.
Not commonly used.
Difficult to find disks to buy. Rare in shops.
Has a reputation of developing a fault where the drive would click and tear up the disk being used.
Generally slow transfer rates.
I have used Zip disks for some time now. The only reason being that I was able to get disks for free and my computer came with a Zip drive internally installed. I have found that the disks are very slow in transferring data and are only useful when other methods of storing data are unavailable.
They cannot compete with newer technologies such as USB memory keys and rewritable CDs and DVDs as these media forms often have much higher capacities, are almost always cheaper and have higher transfer rates.
