Good Points

This is a hard disk drive camcorder with 30gb of memory plus a slot for an SD card. Zoom lens up to 34 times optical and 800 digital. Excellent features all round. So light and comfortable to grip. Its fun to play with and the quality is excellent if you use the ten hours "fine" setting, which is enough for a 2 week holiday when you don't want to record everything everyday. Handy covers for every slot protects from minor splashes by the pool. A superb 16/9 widescreen viewing LCD. Highly recommend this brand. If you have the money go for a better model than the 130u which also sells as the 255ek and 255ue. Paid £245 on eBay through Electronic-King from America.


Bad Points

My only gripe is the picture taking facility which is CMOS 640x480, not even one megapixel which seems very low for this spec camera. If you want still photos go for the much newer model versions. I have a digital 6mp camera so don't need the picture taking facility on this camcorder really, but would have been nice to have better. The battery life is a dismal 1 hour which doesn't give much. I had to buy a second battery for another £95. Also the warranty of only one year doesn't appear to be worldwide but country specific. I bought mine from America and the warranty only covers USA buyers. I'm sure the camcorder won't to wrong and I'm sure JVC would still fix it if it did but you never know.


General Comments

A good price, a good system, light and easy to use. Only negatives are battery and photo quality.
