Good Points

Excellent warranty protection, purchase protection, and protection from unscrupulous vendors. As well, Global Assist Plus is great for travellers.

Bad Points

The fee has been upped to $450 USD, so a little steep. Concierge isn't too useful.

General Comments

I am not one to write reviews on the internet but I feel like this card should be lauded as a business traveller's best friend.

I needed to get some medical advice while in Asia and Global Assist Plus helped me and forwarded me to English speaking pharmacists and doctors late at night. This was appreciated.

Furthermore, I almost missed a flight and one of my vaccines went bad. I was credited for this purchase immediately, no questions asked.

Also, I have been slammed by several vendors prior to moving to Asia and AMEX has stood up for me and taken on the cell phone company, the health club and hotels who had billed me twice. Slamming is quite popular in the US and Amex acts as a great counterbalance.

In today's world, you must pay for service and the riskier your purchases and travels, the less of a possibility you will have for recourse. With Amex though, no one is too far from their reach and when you build a rapport with them, they will back you up. This is most effective, in my opinion.

The concierge isn't the best, I needed a book in Asia and they gave me the Amazon website as a source rather than a bookstore in Shanghai, a city of 18 million. Can't figure that one out....

All in all, use if you travel. Snob appeal is virtually non-existent, so use it if you need it.
