General Comments

I have tried all sorts of different makes, mainly between US $50-US$300 price range, but in the end I always come back to Bushnell 3-9x40. My longest serving Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x40 is about a year old, currently on my Gamo Hunter 440 and done maybe 15k+ rounds and still solid as a rock.

Despite the initial problem with dialing in the scope, namely having to shim it (I use plumber's tape cut to size and have all the edges filed to a tapered smooth edge), once dialed in it stays pretty much zero-ed. I think I still have to re-zero every maybe 2000 rounds or so but I am usually only about half an inch or so off.

I have successes with this scope using both one-piece mounts and 2-piece mounts, but my preference is still one-piece mounts, it eliminates some variables in the whole equation.

A word on shimming, and it pretty much only applies to spring guns, if you do not shim it at the rear end, chances are your elevation dial will have to be cranked all the way up, and when the elevation dial is all the way up or at least near its limits, the scope's ability to hold the zero diminishes. It is best to have the elevation about halfway for maximum zero hold. (I learnt that in my early days of air gunning through trial and error).

Another word about mounting, use the short end of the hex key to tighten the mount, do not use the long end for leverage. You will either break the screw, strip the screw or worse, as I have done before, dent the scope... it makes the scope very unhappy when you are changing the magnification.

The price is great for this scope.
