Light weight
Good weight balance
Build quality
Trigger can be a bit stiff
Adjustment on 2 stage trigger insensitive
I had the Hunter 440 for a while now, put maybe 4000 rounds through it.
I would say it pretty bedded down after about 1000 rounds. The stock scope isnt much to speak of, but with a Bushnell 3-9x40, its great.
The weight is light and balanced with scope, target acquisition and holding superb because of the weight.
The trigger is a slight problem in as far as the adjustment is concerned. Seems like the range of 1st stage and 2nd stage isn't that much, but once you get used to it and adjusted it to your liking its great.
I have never shot it with open-sights, so I cant comment on that. With the 3-9x40 scope, after bedded down, its typically 0.25inch group CTC at 25 yards. At 15 yards, its typically 0.1 inch CTC group, mostly through the same hole.
The finish and build quality is superb aside from a slight roughness on the inside of the stock, easily fixed by using a small whittling knife. I just love the finish on the wood. Keep it oiled and cleaned and it will stand out like a sculpture.
I would give its value 10/10 if the scope that came with it was better than a 4x32 scope.
