Good Points

I know of no good points about Aria Technology Limited.

Bad Points

Eveything possible, in my experience.

General Comments

PRICES - AVAILABILITY: I did not find the range of some products of Aria Technology Limited (Aria PC Technology) as wide as some others' -e.g.: Earlier they had just one double/multi-layer DVD re-writer, when another already had three brands; when I looked for a 3-fan hard-drive cooler they had only 2-fan ones. Another's comparable Firewire card had also an internal socket, both 4 & 6 pin cables, free editing software - they had none of those, on its own. For only a few pence more than cost their own pack of 50 paper CD sleeves, I got from another 100

GOODS - DESCRIPTION - QUALITY: Firewire card's picture didn't show, description didn't say, I asked if they had an internal socket, was assured that they did - but they didn't. RAM didn't work; told that I bought cheap RAM which didn't always work on all motherboards that they were supposed to, and that I needed 'better quality' - costing more. Motherboard was described by them as 4 GB RAM & OK for 3200 MHz - manual said 3.5 GB max., 2 GHz max. if 3200 MHz (told, changed its description to 3 GB!).

DELIVERY: I waited at home all day, phoned, "Delivery was attempted!" (they charge for redelivery) - can't be but: used my tel. no.? "Aria gave it us wrong."

SAFETY: Datawise, the pen drive would not keep the data -I had to scan, defragment, format it!

Healthwise: the case not OK for usual motherboard clips/screws, front panel awkwardly screwed on could injure hand, damage electrics in opening to add front fan, case cables insufficiently secure.

TECHNICAL SERVICE: was told what did I expect if I bought cheap (It was an averagely priced popular, reputable brand) "Maybe you need to use 2 only 4 RAM slots with 1x2 GB RAM in each [!!!] - the manufacturer may have since brought out something to enable it"!

RETURNS: Return form referred me to manufacturer (no contact details) - for refund. Having used "contact form" repeatedly I had to email & telephone & it took 2 to 3 days to get an RMA. They said "nothing wrong" with items & to arrange to collect -they acknowledge them a statutory refund.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: "This number is not connected" - sales: "Never heard such nonsense!"; their fax, same; email automatically reissued RMA.

REFUNDS: No mention, despite reminders, re. RMA item not their brand. Re. only of their own brand, after reminders, e-mail: "Credited, less 25% testing/re-stocking fee" I asked them to close my account & why 25% deduction? "Damaged it!" -asked how, wouldn't say, nor refund "at this time". Reason to claim from a receiver? "Not your business". Told of the law, they wrote that their company secretary a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries, and their sole (managing) director and owner were consulted and advised it not to be authorised.

COMPLIANCE: they wrote: "While these are often re-stockable as new " (that I damaged them, so a restocking fee). Reminded said "nothing wrong with them", "entitled to automatically deduct 25%". They wrote if credit unacceptable to click; then that I was entitled to refund as credit. They wrote "to confirm" a purported telephone agreement; asked to explain, they didn't. Asked if their name changed (varied on stationary), they didn't reply.

PRIVACY - ADVERTISING: My 5 year old a/c (they'd opened another) on internet! I clicked not to send email ads; I got an an ad, privacy infringements rose from ~2/3 to ~30.

COMPETENCE - DUE CARE: Terms & Conditions say "unless seal broken" & "under no circumstances software returnable". They wrote: "As requested, closed your account", then, "Shall arrange to close it"; and "Blocked ads to your e-mail ----.(not .com)", told on their records it's ".com" didn't reply. They wrote they were deducting a testing/restocking fee for unreturned item; told, said nothing.

ATTITUDE: Their Office Manager/Head of Customer Service wrote: "You don't make sense" and sough to deny that they had claimed a purported telephone conversation - asked what they did not understand, they didn't say. Asked what they deducted for what, how, why, no response. Asked for my a/c history, didn't respond. Contact at direct addresses of director and the company secretary on Company House official records not replied to.
