Great value. Dependable. Good looking. Well balanced.
Trigger was a bit heavy, but I had that fixed by Cole.
I bought a 686 Onyx Sporter used six months ago and I must say it is a wonderful gun. I shoot left handed and this gun was fitted with a left hand stock by Beretta for the original owner. Stock fit me perfectly with no modifications. They must have upgraded the wood as it is beautiful! The first owner did have the stock stripped, re-checkered and oil finished. I've replaced the factory chokes with Biley chokes. As mentioned I sent the gun to Cole in Maine for have the trigger creep cleaned up and set to 3.5 pounds($125.00). It shoots much better for me now. Factory trigger was almost un-shootable for me as I was used to shooting a Win.101 that had been worked over by Briley. I plan to back bore the 686 over the off season and maybe have it ported although recoil with 1 oz. loads is minimal. So far about 4000 rounds and no problems. Except maybe not breaking a few clays...
