Good Points

Many features in one unit: line in/line out, built-in mic, external mic, huge memory. In addition to audio, it plays video, displays photos and text. It can also play Radio, however, the radio signals are not that good.
The battery is amazingly very excellent, I love how long it lasts and the true indicator of the battery charge available, so you would have enough warning to re-charge it before it dies on you. The player also comes with an external battery adapter which can be used if the internal battery empties; I never had to use it.
You can upgrade the firmware easily. When this player was produced, it didn't support video files!


Bad Points

Its bulky size due to the large 40GB hard drive memory. You cannot make a playlist using the mp3 player; you have to do it on the computer then transfer the playlist file to the mp3 player. It is not easy to search for a certain mp3 file if you had 40GB of music, or roughly 8000 songs.
The start-up time tends to increase as you save more files on the player
Another disadvantage is that you cannot run the player while it is being charged from a computer from the USB connection. and you cannot look at photos on the player while playing music, video or listening to the radio.


General Comments

The iRiver H340 player was my second mp3 player after Creative Zen. I found that this MP3 player is much superior than Creative's Zen. The sound quality is very excellent. The accessories with this player are of high quality: it comes with Sennheiser headphones, a very good cover, an external microphone, wired remote control and a male-male 3.5mm cable for line-in/out. All these accessories are necessary for any mp3 player.

I still find this player the best. Although it is larger and heavier than other mp3's, its features and quality make me recommend it to users who want performance and many options rather than looks and size. It is like comparing the big DJ headphones with the tiny earphones.
