Good Points

Met some nice people who were also in the same predicament as ourselves and compared notes.

Bad Points

Standard of accommodation was poor and basic. Room was extremely small and the two chairs in the room were in the way and did not allow people to walk around the beds and table without difficulty. Ended up having to move furniture in the middle of the night to make room. Staff would not move us, they told us to make an appointment. Also the food at their buffet was atrocious, dried out fare. The only hope of a decent meal was the restaurant's but this seemed to have restrictive hours especially for breakfast.
In addition, the itinerary seemed to be selected to minimise the time at ports. For example going from Zadar to Brindisi and then back up to Dubrovnik loses several hours off your time at port and puts you into Brindisi during siesta. We had the same difficulty in the first stop, Kopel in Slovenia. Nothing was open as it was Sunday, good planning Thomson. This is great for them, as people are so bored they end up paying through the nose for a Thomson Tour.

General Comments

Staff could not be bothered with clients on ship, regardless of how old or infirm they happened to be. Attention to customers needs would have to be looked into. We ended up being transferred to another cabin and when I asked the tour director on board, was it noisy he said, not at all, it turned out to be beside the engine.
Now if you love a holiday in Santa Ponza, the Emerald would probably suit you just fine, if you are used to anything nicer, take my advise and stay away from Thomson, they certainly left a bad taste in my mouth.
