Good Points

Looks. Space for children/passengers.

Bad Points

Looks nice and handles well.............however. The gearbox is shocking, in fact so bad that I have to describe it as dangerous. The indifferent and prolonged lag at junctions means you are seriously at risk of being T-boned from the side and once the power kicks in the car shoots forward which also means the car in front could be in trouble. After persistent complaints BMW eventually described it as a characteristic of the car.......does not really correlate with information contained within their brochures ......."smooth transition". I have never let my wife drive the car for fear she will have an accident!

I disagree with this review because... I have driven BMW's for about the last 10 years - The one thing you learn about BMW diesels is the initial time lag when you put your foot down at junctions, this is easily overcome by knocking the gearbox into sport mode whick completely changes its characteristics and reduces any lag time and gives you a very different experience in initial acceleration - please try it it does help.
