General Comments

We viewed a property that Bairstow Eves Estate Agents had for sale. Myself and my wife loved the property so much that we offered the full asking price. The first thing they asked us was to provide proof from our bank that we were credit worthy. This was before they even wanted to forward our offer to the seller. We thought this was strange, but as we didn't want to lose the house, we went to our bank right away. Our bank had never heard of this type of practice before, but gave me a piece of paper with proof of my earnings. After returning to Bairstow Eves Estate Agents, they proceeded to drag their heels with forwarding our offer. It was as if they didn't want to sell the house to us. After 3 days and many calls, we finally got some feedback from the agent that they had accepted our offer. After about three weeks we heard from our solicitors that the sellers had decided to take the house off the market. We were so disappointed. At no point did Bairstow Eves contact us that this was happening. When I rang them they claimed they had no idea that there client had done this, but they were still advertising the house for sale. We were shell shocked. And this was the branch manager I was dealing with. All was not lost. A year later myself and my wife purchased a house 3 doors down from a great estate firm, who I couldn't fault. From start to finish it took 5 weeks. I met the owners of the property we were going to buy, and they told us that Bairstow Eves advised them to take their property off the market, as they could get more money for it. I once asked to view one of their properties, and I never even got a viewing. They just kept saying they couldn't contact the owners.
