Terrible customer service; terrible online system; no respect for their customers


General Comments

As someone with a good credit standing, I can't believe I ever even got this card. Drawn the initial 0% interest for one year on the card, I thought I would use it to offset some of my wedding costs. Unfortunately, it ended up costing me $130 extra!!! The customer service is incredibly unhelpful and rude, even insulting at times. After completing a payment, it was mysteriously returned a week later, with no explanation and blamed on first my bank, and then on me. This is after confirmation of payment. My bank has NO record of them even being contacted by HSBC. Here's an idea HSBC, update your online banking system to be on par with the rest of the world. Any business that has online payments should put security and functionality as their first priority, but this is what I got from customer service: "yes, the system should have generated a notification and I can't explain why it didn't... that's really weird... but anyway, that's a moot point because your payment was late." A "moot point" ??? If you don't see any value in a functioning online application when sensitive data is being transferred, then guess what? I don't want you dealing with my financial information. Account closed - I'm sticking with American Express.
