Good Points

For the money of a gti its power, looks and handling is fantactic coz i own 1. Wiv it bein 1 of the first revolutionary engines its ideal 4 any1 who loves a bit of fun and being under estimated coz u just blitz most the pants off most crts on the road 2day.

Bad Points

The only bad point is that theres not alot of mods u can buy 4 it.

General Comments

Owning a metro GTi 16v for my first car is brill, just the other day had this ponse sat behind in his Ford RS Turbo (zzz) giving it some. Got to a straight road and he decided to try n overtake me, so i put me foot down and when he read me badge as i undertook him and left him 4 dust he was quite impressed when he rolled up 5 mins later at the same garage as me. He comments "Whats in that bonnet" I reply "About 165 BHP" 1.8 vvc (MGF Engine T160) "O" He replies When i tell him that it runs 0-60 in 6 seconds and does nearly 150 MPH. So it just shows dont ever under estimate a metro it could be u im undertaking next.

yeah thats great but your still driving a rover metro and hes driving a car built for performance whereas you have put a big engine in a car built mainly for shopping. on a race track the focus would blow your car into the weeds. sorry

Nonsence. 2 friends of mine run metro's in the SMRC and are eating race spec integra's etc. And remember, the MGF is a car built for speed, and its developed from a metro. The bigger engine is infact a bored out versiuon of the st engine, so the car setup is unchanged, unlike 2.0L corsa'a or similar.

    great cars!

Sounds like a lot of fun this metro and they should not be understated! I have also just bought a metro gti 16v and a hoping to drop a other larger k series into it eg 1.6,1.8,2.0 gti lump. Is there anyone out there who as done this all ready or has the know how? some pointers would be much appricated. cheers Gordon

Some noisy Metro Rio just ovetook me in my 167bhp ZX 16v. I immediately thought 'Metro' get real but only just got back at him. What the hecks going on? It didnt even have alloys. I had a Metro GTA and remember it doesnt like anything over 80mph as the steering is so light and vague at speed. I overtook this guy at 120, he must of had white knuckles holding on to the wheel!

Come on lads its a rusty old skip on wheels wudn't get many looks from the ladies in it. Alrite they shift a bit for their engine size but its just aswell cos who wud want to look at one parked up or cruisin about!

They are sweet cars especialy when you put your foot down, but a Rover turbo engine conversion(not Metro Turbo)and some mods with around 260bhp is sweet n fast. I can tell ya. Im looking into a nos system...not many cars can keep up, ive gave sum tuned up cars like scoobies n supras a run for there money, hav lost but only by a inch..beats r5 turbos...ive only got like 134mph so far due to not many long straights in my town, loads ov torque....fastest metro I no....u might not believe me but thats fine...
