Good Points

Looks good - bought to match in with other Hotpoint appliances. Easy to to use.

Bad Points

Unreliable. Cleaning the filter out is a pain. Quite noisy.

General Comments

I have had this condensing tumble drier for approx 13 months and in that time my Hotpoint engineer and I have got on first name terms. The first problem was within 6 weeks of owning it and it has been a constant battle to keep the machine going ever since. I have four children so we DO do a lot of washing, but I do expect a brand new machine to at least last out ot's guarentee.

1) The 'Set and Forget' programme has never worked properly - it stops when the clothes are still damp.
2) We have a intermittent problem of the drier beeping loudly and flashing all it's lights at me. The only way to stop it is to pull the plug. It has been 'repaired' (i.e. new computer chip type thingy) a couple of times, but the problem still returns.
3) Not only do you have to clean out the fluff-thing (what's that called?) but you also have to pull out the heavy filter from the bottom of the machine and clean that out REGULARLY (i.e. I do mine at least every 3-4 uses). The Hotpoint engineer showed me the easiest way was to stick a hose pipe in it, but I tend to use the shower head. If you don't, the fluff completely covers the inside of the machine and it stops working. I even had the water jug leaking everywhere due to fluff.

Now that I am out of my 12 month guarantee I am looking around for a new tumble drier so that when this one breaks down again (which is only a matter of time) I can just replace it. NOT with another Hotpoint. :(
